![]() ![]() ![]() What did you take away from Spike's character? Perhaps, there is no “should/supposed” and authors left Spike’s motivations and personality up to debate and interpretation? ![]() Or maybe Spike is intended to be a demonstration of how complex a person can be and that there aren't always clear-cut, black-white answers to what motivates that person? Or was Spike's decision a decision of a person who didn't/couldn't let go of their past until the very end? As in, Spike's final battle wasn't him trying to overcome his past, but rather it was him not being able to let go of it? In other words, perhaps if Spike truly wanted to move on from his past, he would not leave Bebop to fight Vicious in the final episode? Was Spike's decision to confront Vicious (and Red Dragons) a decision of a mature person who have gathered courage/resolve to confront their past in order to move on? I guess, what I am really trying to say is Spike a good role model? Does he embody positive qualities and virtues? Or is he an example of a person one should not become? Is his behaviour that of a strong and mature person or not? Is his chill/cool and stoic attitude indeed a façade of a very fragile person? As cheesy as it may sound but maybe it is easier for him to face death than to face life. Spike can be stoic in some situations where he is facing death, but he can't fully deal with his life overall. Or maybe it’s both of the above as perhaps these two themes don't have to be mutually exclusive, i.e. Or are we supposed to see through the façade of Spike's stoic attitude and find a broken man enslaved by his past which he couldn't let go of? 'Cowboy Bebop' Netflix Live Action SoundtrackĪre we supposed to respect/admire Spike’s acceptance of fate (like in the "whatever happens, happens" scene)?
